I’m a student, designer, photographer, and writer, which sounds like a lot of things until you consider how well they go together. (Where would this site’s design be without the writing or photos?) Outside of that, I enjoy reading, music, programming, cities, public transit, and occasionally philosophy. The list would go on if I let it.
I’m currently working on an undergraduate degree in Graphic Design (with, of course, minors in Computer Science and Writing) in Baltimore, Maryland. Washington, DC’s my home. New York’s my obsession. I know far more than I should about Metro and the subway (and its Helvetica). Typography is everywhere, and by now, my friends must know it. Ah well; at least they still listen to me.
If you want to share some thoughts on something I’ve written, point out an error, or just say hello, I’d love to hear from you. (If you’re nice, you’re welcome to call me “Drew.” My friends do, at least.)
This is my place to share the things that I make (my portfolio or something I’ve written), discover (and then link to), or capture (with the camera). The best way to get better at something, they say, is to practice, so it’s this site in which I practice writing, along with design and photography. Sometimes it’s serious, sometimes lighthearted, sometimes introspective, but it’s always here. I’ve made a commitment to write, to post, and while I haven’t always been good about doing so regularly, I intend to fix that while I practice.
In a way, this site is a repository of some of my work. It’s certainly not everything I’ve done, and some of it might not have been worth sharing, but it’s part of a journey to create. That’s what’s most important.
The log’s inaugural entry in which I discuss writing and my hopes for the future.
